Since 2014, the man behind the great music at St. Gregory’s has been organist, pianist and choir director Kent Bates.
Following in his father's footsteps, Kent began studying piano and church music at age seven. During high school, he studied organ at Court Street United Methodist Church, the largest United Methodist church in the Chicago area.
Kent received a Bachelor's degree from Drake University in Church Music, with an emphasis in Organ Performance and Piano. After moving to Colorado, he served as organist and music director for several Denver area churches and keyboardist for wedding chapels. After eight years as Director of Music and Worship Arts for First Presbyterian Church in Grand Junction, CO, Kent and his wife, Terese, returned to Littleton where Kent became the Minister of Music for St. Gregory's. He loves the friendly and open attitudes of our congregation and the wonderful choir he is privileged to work with.
