Bluegrass Mass
Praise him with timbrel and dance; praise him with strings and pipe. ~ Psalm 150:4
Join us on Sunday, June 2nd at 10 am (in person and online) for a joyous worship that we call a “Bluegrass Mass”. Bluegrass music has attracted a diverse following worldwide. On his website (https:// www.billmonroe.com), bluegrass pioneer Bill Monroe is quoted as having characterized the bluegrass genre as: "Scottish bagpipes and ole-time fiddlin'. It's Methodist and Holiness and Baptist. It's blues and jazz, and it has a high lonesome sound."
These various musical traditions come together in bluegrass music and stem from the region of Appalachia. It may seem a strange musical mix might actually fit naturally into our traditional worship service. We’ll sing songs like “The Old Rugged Cross” and “The Circle Be Unbroken” in the midst of our traditional Anglican worship service.
Come sing along with our Bluegrass Band at the 10:00 am liturgy on Sunday, June 2nd! We’ll tap our toes and clap our hands and pray our traditional common prayers too!
